CO- Vikings - Great Courses class

The Vikings

Great Courses DVD class taught by Professor Kenneth W. Harl, Tulane University

Facilitated by Jean Ohman

Thursdays, 2:00 to 3:30 pm

great courses the vikings cover

The Vikings were Scandinavian raiders, seafarers, kings and writers during the 8th to the early 11th centuries.

Vikings have traditionally been considered ruthless pirates ravaging the coasts of Europe with horned helmets and wielding two headed axes.

But that is only part of the story.

Come learn about the more positive impacts of the Vikings who were highly skilled sailors of incredibly seaworthy ships.

They explored wide areas in Northern Europe and were merchants and traders.

As the first people to sail beyond sight of land, they established a settlement in Iceland and forever changed the history of medieval European civilization.

This course is facilitated by modern-day Scandinavian descendent, Jean Ohman of Sea Ranch.
