HOLIDAY READINGS

Mendocino County Library is pleased to present a one-hour program designed to share cultural mysteries and stories about this darkest time of the year featuring Linda Pack and R. Bobby.

Tales of the Winter Solstice will be performed at Fort Bragg and Ukiah Libraries and will include the Jewish holiday of Hannukah,Roman Saturnalia and the R. Bobby in a black shirtancient Persian festival of Yalda. Lucky audience members will have an opportunity to have their fortune foretold by writings of the esteemed Persian poet, Hafiz. The program concludes with a complete reading of Dylan Thomas’ mid-20th-century masterpiece, “A Child’s Christmas in Wales.”

Christmas Classics & Mendocino Memories will be performed at Willits and Coast Community Libraries and will include reminiscences from early Mendocino County Christmases, interwoven with cherished classic holiday stories including the famous newspaper editorial “Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus”, O. Henry’s tender and moving tale “The Gift of the Magi”, a complete reading of Dylan Thomas’ mid-20th-century masterpiece, “A Child’s Christmas in Wales.” and Clement Moore’s beloved “A Visit From Saint Nicholas”.

So gather your friends and neighbors and come join us for this festive holiday storytelling tradition. This free gift of seasonal stories for the whole family is presented by the Mendocino County Library.
