Dig in and Read this summer at the Mendocino County Library!

The Summer Reading Program is open to all ages: children, teens and adults; the Summer Reading Program begins on June 29 and ends on August 10.  Through fun reading challenges and online activities, Mendocino County Library wants to encourage reading and promote literacy for all ages.

Participating in the Mendocino County Library’s Summer Reading Program is easy. Keep track of the books you read, either online or by using a paper reading log. Incentives will be offered by branch and participants who reach the reading goal will receive a free book at the end of the summer.

The Library will also be offering “grab-and-go” activity kits, and we are always available to help readers find a good book according to grade-level, interest, or genre.

How to participate online:

  1. Create a Beanstack account! You can create an account online for just yourself or add more readers for a family.  Register for your Beanstalk account here: MCL Beanstack. Install the free App from Google Play or the App Store today.
  2. Register the readers on your account for the Children’s or the Teen and Adult Summer Reading challenge.
  3. Have fun reading! Dive into your favorite books, regardless of format — physical books, graphic novels, audiobooks, eAudiobooks, and eBooks all count towards your goal!
  4. Keep Track While you Read: Track your minutes read on your online log, and earn a badge for completion! Each time you read 15 minutes for Children and 1 hour for Teens and Adults, track that time in your online log. Earn virtual badges in Beanstack; the more you read, the more badges you will receive!
