Agency Card

The primary goal of Agency Card accounts is to provide government and private agencies with access to materials that support their institutions.

What Is An Agency Card?

Agency Cards are a special privilege granted to government and private agencies, institutions and facilities.

Agencies may borrow up to 50 items at a time for agency use for up to six weeks (42 days). Agencies may use their Agency Card to place up to 30 items on hold. Certain formats are excluded (video games and streaming media) and some loan periods are not extended. Requests, renewals, and all other policies and restrictions apply. As a reminder, items for personal use should be checked out on personal library cards. The library recognizes that mistakes happen. We will forgive the loss or damage of up to four items per year.

When items are checked out on an Agency Card, you get:

  • Extended checkouts (6 weeks!)
  • Up to 50 items
  • Four lost items forgiven per school year
  • Barrier Free Access to your library

Who Qualifies For An Agency Card?

Government and private agencies throughout Mendocino County(religious, public and private schools, certified home-schools, licensed child-care providers, recreational leaders, student educators, etc.) may have Agency Card borrowing privileges.

Applying For An Agency Card

Agency Cards are granted by review of the Library Director. Agencies can obtain and submit the Agency Card application in person at any Mendocino County Library location. Agency applicants must submit an application as well as a letter requesting issuance of the card presented on official letterhead and signed by a legal representative who can accept financial responsibility for items borrowed on the card.

Expiration & Renewal

Agency Cards must be renewed and eligibility confirmed each year. Agency Cards expire 365 days from the date of issuance.  A new letter requesting issuance of the card presented on official letterhead and signed by a legal representative must be presented and reviewed by the Library Director to reconfirm the existing Agency Card for the next year.

Other Notes:

  • Lake County Library, Sonoma County, and Interlibrary Loan materials may follow regular loan periods and restrictions.
  • Video games, streaming media, and museum passes (Discover & Go) may not be checked out with the Educator Card.
