People & Places: Works by Cottie Morrison & Janet Rosen

The Ukiah Branch Library invites the community to join us for our Art Walk openings on Friday, September 4 and Friday, October 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. The library will feature a mixed media and oil painting show by local artists Cottie Morrison and Janet Rosen. “People and Places” is an art show by longtime friends Morrison and Rosen. While working separately in their studios, they have each created evocative portraiture that invites the viewer to join the subject’s interior world. The landscapes and interiors are just as important to the portrait as to how the subject is rendered.

On September 4, the branch will host live music by harpist Suni Robin and an in-person creative program exploring portrait and landscape painting using multi-media. On October 2, the branch will host live music by Steve Winkle. During both Art Walk openings, guests can shop at the Ukiah Valley Friends of the Library book sale.

This art exhibition is free to the public, open to all ages, and is sponsored by the kind and generous support of the Mendocino County Library and the Ukiah Valley Friends of the Library. La sucursal de la biblioteca de Ukiah invita a la comunidad a acompañarnos en las inauguraciones del evento Paseo del Arte Ukiah los viernes 4 de septiembre y 2 de octubre, de 5:00 p. m. a 7:00 p. m. La biblioteca presentará una exposición de pinturas al óleo y obras de técnica mixta de las artistas locales Cottie Morrison y Janet Rosen. "Personas y lugares" es una exposición artística de las amigas desde hace mucho tiempo, Cottie Morrison y Janet Rosen. Aunque trabajan por separado en sus respectivos estudios, ambas han creado retratos evocadores que invitan al espectador a adentrarse en el mundo interior del sujeto retratado. Los paisajes y los interiores son tan importantes para el retrato como la forma en que se representa al sujeto.

El 4 de septiembre, la sucursal ofrecerá música en vivo a cargo de la arpista Suni Robin y un programa creativo presencial para explorar la pintura de retratos y paisajes mediante técnicas mixtas. El 2 de octubre, la sucursal contará con música en vivo por Steve Winkle. Durante ambos eventos del Paseo del Arte Ukiah los asistentes podrán comprar libros en la venta organizada por Ukiah Valley Friends of the Library.
